Dickeyville Celebration Information

Directions to the Arrington Prairie Southern Missionary Baptist Church/Dickeyville Cemetery, Wayne County, Illinois Starting at the Wayne County Court House in Fairfield, take Illinois 15 west about 15 miles to the Sims Road. Take this road north about five miles to a four way intersection. Turn west for about one and a quarter miles to a road intersecting from the north. Take this road north for about a mile. The church and cemetery will be on the east side of the road.

WARNING: Do not approach the cemetery from the north! There is a dangerous bridge over the Dry Fork Creek just north of the cemetery. When approaching from the north it is difficult to see the creek and the bridge because of a wooded area and a dip and jog in the road just before the creek.

Here is a direct quote from one of the sources of information concerning the Dickeyville Celebration. We still have no authorization to add contact information for the event. "Finally have a schedule for the Dickeyville Celebration...looks like it is a one day event...on May 30th...

(Celebration on May 30th. Church service will again be at 10:30 for those wishing to attend. Dinner is planned to be on the church grounds between 12-1 PM weather permitting. If it rains, they will have dinner at the Berry School which is only a couple of miles away. At 2PM they plan a service which I believe is the rededication of the church but not sure. At about 3:00 PM they hope to have everyone gather for a huge family picture. Everyone of course should bring any family trees and pictures to share as it will be a great time to connect with family members.

Everyone is also to bring your own drinks, table service ware, and I would suggest chairs in which to sit. They are getting tables to set up, but I would imagine that will only house the food.)

Hope to see you on the 30th..."
